Obituary of Phyllis D. Jenkins

Phyllis D. Jenkins, 94, passed away at home Saturday evening, March 28, 2020 while surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Francis E. Jenkins, whom she married July 2, 1955 and who died this past October 16, 2019. Phyllis was born April 26, 1925 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Lamont and Anna Norman Danielson, and was a 1943 graduate of Jamestown High School. In earlier years employed as a secretary at Dahlstrom Manufacturing, she later worked for 17 years as a secretary for Crawford & Company Insurance in Jamestown. Phyllis attended Zion Covenant Church and belonged to the Dorcas Society and the Late Bloomers. She was a past president of the Chautauqua County Humane Society and a member of the Busti Library Book Club and the Doll Study Club. Phyllis also enjoyed traveling with her late husband, Francis, reading and activities with her high school class of 1943 throughout the years. Surviving are her three children: Susan (Steve) Arnold of Jamestown, Lynne (Timothy) McGivern of Honolulu, HI, and William (Christine) Jenkins of Youngsville, PA; five grandchildren: Ashley Nelson of Sugar Grove, PA, Amanda (Bryan) Braley of Kennedy, NY, Andrew Jenkins of Busti, NY, William McGivern of Los Angeles, CA, and Daniel McGivern of Honolulu; two step-grandchildren: Cierra (Christopher) Greenawalt of Warren, PA and Skyla Ohl of Youngsville, PA; and four great-grandchildren: Deirdre Nelson and Hunter, Patrick and Carson Braley. A private family service will be held in the Lind Funeral Home led by Pastor Gordon Robbins, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Falconer. Visitation will not be observed at this time. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced by the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd., Jamestown, NY 14701; or to the Busti Hazeltine Library, 891 Busti-Sugar Grove Rd., Jamestown, NY 14701.
