Obituary of Geraldine L. Kelwaski

Geraldine L. Kelwaski, 87, formerly of Jamestown, passed away Monday April 13, 2020 in Absolut Care of Salamanca. She was born September 25, 1932 in Wellsville, NY the daughter of the late Eugene McGill and Twyla Freeland McGill Wight. She was the widow of Carl E. Kelwaski Sr. whom she married July 11, 1953 and who died February 6, 2008. Geraldine moved to Jamestown to attend Jamestown Business College. She worked at Jamestown Rubber Stamp and the Cake Shoppe, and in later years, Burger King. While being a stay at home mom, she and her neighborhood friends started a coffee group that met every Tuesday and also a home bureau group that did crafts. She was a member of the Marvin House and played the piano at the former Stillwater United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter: Vicky L. Kelwaski of Jamestown; two sons: Carl E. (Chris) Kelwaski Jr., of DePere, WI and Kenneth J. (Dana) Kelwaski of Jamestown; three grandchildren: Robert D. Skinner Jr., of Gowanda, NY, Teri L. Galati and John M. Kelwaski, both of Jamestown; a brother: Lee McGill of Dryden, NY; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her step father, Robert Wight. Due to the current restrictions regarding public gatherings, a memorial service will be announced at a later date by the Lind Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Western New York.
