Obituary of Kay L. Palmquist

Kay Louise Palmquist, 69, of Jamestown, went home to the Lord on Thursday, April 16, 2020, following a lengthy illness. She was born March 12, 1951 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of Marilyn A. Bloomquist Palmquist and the late Richard J. Palmquist. Kay was a 1969 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a member of the First Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed. Before her retirement due to ill health, she was employed as a caregiver by the Resource Center. She had previously worked for the Weber-Knapp Company, Crescent Tool Company and was also a caregiver for the Reginald Lenna family. Kay will be remembered as a very spiritual person and for her strong faith in God, always praying for everyone. She was a devoted daughter and granddaughter caring for her late grandmother and recently for her mother. She was always helping other people whenever she was able. She was a true caregiver of other people in need and for her many pets. When she wasn't caring for someone, or for some animal, she loved spending time reading. Surviving is her mother, Marilyn Palmquist of Lakewood, NY, her companion for over 30 years, Patricia A. Jack, with whom she shared her home, a brother, Kevin (Karen) Palmquist of Jamestown, her nieces, Ava Palmquist of Jamestown, Nadine Nietupski, Dr. Anna Nietupski both of North Carolina, her longtime childhood friend and caregiver, Karen Wolfe Brooks, her three cats, her loyal pet dog "Gracie", and numerous other stray animals whom she cared for. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard J. "Peck" Palmquist who died in 2004, a brother, Terry Palmquist who died in 1996 and her grandparents, John and Vaunda Palmquist and Clifford and Anna Bloomquist. Due to the restrictions on public gatherings caused by the coronavirus outbreak, a celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced by the Lind Funeral Home. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to the New Leash on Life, 12 Lucy Lane, Jamestown, NY 14701 or to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd. Jamestown, NY 14701.
