Obituary of Audrey M. Johnson

Audrey M. Johnson, 94, a member of the 'Greatest Generation', passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the Lutheran Retirement Home. She was the widow of Robert A. Johnson, whom she married January 5, 1947 and who died September 26, 2002. Audrey was born in Jamestown on October 23, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Ernest H. and Emma C. Sundin Anderson. She was a 1943 graduate of Jamestown High School and became a registered nurse following her 1946 graduation from the Millard Fillmore School of Nursing in Buffalo. She had been employed as a nurse by the Workman's Compensation Board in Jamestown. Audrey was a life member of Zion Covenant Church where she had taught Sunday school, served on the visitation committee and sang in the choir. She belonged to the JHS 100 member Club, was co-chairperson of the Class of '43 Reunion Committee, and was a proud member of the Republican National Party. She was also an avid Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan. Surviving are two sons: Craig (Barbara) Johnson of Tonawanda, NY and Rev. Douglas (Mary) Johnson of Dassel, MN; two daughters: Barbara (Ray) Souter of Kenmore, NY and Karin Rich of Buffalo, NY; nine grandchildren: Michael (Kristen) Johnson of Buffalo, Adam (Kate) Johnson of Quincy, MA, Ryan Johnson of Chicago, IL, Linnea Johnson of Seattle, WA, Brittney (Brent) Seymour of Buffalo, Drew Kenyon of Ballston Spa, NY, Jenna Rich of New York, NY, R.J. Souter of Kenmore, and Eric Rich of Buffalo; her son-in-law, Robert Kenyon of Jamestown; a sister-in-law, Lois Anderson of Lakewood; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. In addition to her husband, Robert, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Priscilla Kenyon in 2010; a grandson, Shane Johnson; and three brothers, Alvin, Leslie and LeRoy Anderson. With the present day COVID concerns, a private family service will be held in the Lind Funeral Home, led by the Rev. Rick Miller. Burial will take place in Lake View Cemetery.
