Obituary of Anne M. Madden

Anne Marie Devlin Madden, 89, of 115 Elm St. Westfield, NY, formerly of Jamestown, NY, and Frewsburg, NY, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, Emmett and Norma Devlin, where she had resided the past three years. A lifelong area resident, she was born August 1, 1930 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Harry and Mary E. Laughlin Devlin. Anne was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Jamestown Community College. Before her retirement in 1992, she was a Secretary for the law offices of William R. Blood and William F. Duncanson Attorneys for 21 years. She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Paris at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and in earlier years at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakewood. Anne was active with the Altar and Rosary Society and was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons bowling and golf leagues. She was a volunteer for the Chautauqua County Meals on Wheels and was a driver for the American Cancer Society. She also worked with the Chautauqua County Humane Society where she took in and cared for stray cats. Surviving is her brother, Emmett F. (Norma) Devlin of Westfield, NY, her niece, Sandy Devlin, nephew, Dan Devlin both of Westfield, her nephew, John Penfield of CA, great niece, Heather Eckman, great nephew, Donald (Sarah) Eckman and great great nephew, Finn Eckman all of Westfield. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John S. Madden whom she married October 6, 1956 and who died January 11, 2014 and a nephew, David Devlin. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
