Obituary of Ruth J. Johnson

Ruth J. Johnson, 75, of Lakewood, passed away peacefully Tuesday May 12, 2020 at UPMC Chautauqua Hospital with her family at her side after a brief illness. She was born January 15, 1945 in Jamestown, NY the daughter of Ray Bentley and the late Dorothy Abers Bentley. Prior to retirement, Ruth worked at the Resource Center for 25 years. Previously she worked at the former Woolworth's and Green Brothers Lumber. Ruth enjoyed working with the clients at the Resource Center, and she loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her granddaughter Cassandra. Surviving besides her father are, her son and daughter in law Bobby and Jackie Bardo and grandchildren Tabitha, Shawna, and Mike; her son and daughter in law Beanie and Terri Bardo and grandchildren Kelsa, Jessica, Megan, Lucas, Nic, Kaitlyn, and Carson; her daughter Wendy Keller and granddaughter Cassandra; 20 great grandchildren; her son in law Steven Griffin; her brothers and sisters: Russell Bentley and Cheryl, Rose and Tim Nelson, Robin and Mark Miles, and Ray Jr. and Lisa Bentley. Also surviving are her longtime companion, Jerry Sayre; two step daughters: Geraldine and Cathy; and her former husband and friend, Kenny Johnson. Ruth was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Bentley in 1989, her son Larry Bardo in 1986, and her daughter Geraldine "Jeri Ray" Griffin in 1988. Due to the current restrictions, a private family service will be held in the Lind Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lakewood Fire Department, 37 Packard Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.
