Obituary of Thomaidha Dimas

Thomaidha K. Dimas, 97, formally of Jamestown, passed away Wednesday May 20, 2020 in Denver, Colorado. She moved to Denver in May 2017 to reside with her son. She was born November 10, 1922 in Shika, Albania the daughter of Kris and Alexandria Brokas Gjoka. She arrived in Jamestown as a seven year old and resided in Jamestown until moving to Denver. Known as Thoma or Tommie, she was a 1943 graduate of Jamestown High School and worked in the dietary department of the Jamestown General Hospital after graduation. She had a life-long love of cooking and baking. She married Louis Dimas on September 15, 1946. Shortly after their marriage, due to her father's illness, she and Louie took over the Brooklyn Restaurant in Brooklyn Square. They continued to run the restaurant until 1974 when they opened the Brookwood restaurant. They also operated Tommie's Pizza, "Not the First but the Best". They retired in 1999. She was a member of St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and the Ladies Erene Society. Surviving are a son, Peter Louis (Jody) of Denver, CO; a daughter, Sandra (Arthur) Cottrell of Lake Bluff, IL; granddaughters, Alexandria Cottrell (Adam Glover), Elyse (Brian) Pugh and Katherine (Steven) Anderson. She was the proud great grandmother (GG) of Lauren Rose Pugh. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and her dear sister, Athena Constantine. Due to restriction of Covid 19 a private service will be held in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. The Rev. Fr. Soterios Rousakis will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
