Obituary of Evelyn F. Harvey

Evelyn F. Harvey, 95, formerly of Maple Street in Jamestown and Tanglewood Manor, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing. She was born April 25, 1925 in Miles City, Montana, the daughter of the late Harold and Ruth Juell Osborne. She lived in Texas and Pennsylvania with her parents before settling in Jamestown. Evelyn was a 1944 graduate of Jamestown High School and studied for two years at the Chicago Evangelistic Institute. She retired from Freedom Communications at the age of 89 after working there for 20 years. Prior to that, she worked as a secretary for Lyons Transportation Lines for 22 years, at Blackstone, Crescent Tool and at Art Metal where she met her husband, John. She was a member of Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church and a former member of Grace United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday school at both churches. Evelyn was a facilitator for 18 years with the Lupus Support Group and she was a board member for Reachout Ministries. Evelyn is survived by two sons: William Harvey (Nancy) and Robert Harvey (Cheryl) both of Jamestown; two daughters: Nancy Burnap (Russell) of Norwood, NY, and Ginny Conrad (Mark) of Keyser, WV; seven grandchildren: Kevin Harvey, Craig Harvey, Rob Dies, Kim Prince, Heidi Walker, Lucas Burnap and Katya Conrad; as well as eleven great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Harvey whom she married May 29, 1948 and who died April 3, 1991; a sister, Carol Westfall; and an infant great-great granddaughter. A private family service will be held in the Lind Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Rick Miller. Visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lupus Alliance of WNY or the Chautauqua County Humane Society.
