Obituary of Russell A. Ferraloro, Sr.

Russell A. Ferraloro, Sr., 78, of Jamestown, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020 at UPMC Chautauqua. He was born October 9, 1941 in Tortorici, Sicily, Italy, one of four sons of the late Carmelo and Mary Pinzone Ferraloro, and was a 1961 graduate of Jamestown High School. He was a Korean War US Army veteran, serving from 1963 to 1966, and belonged to the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion in Celoron. For many years, Russ was employed as a lab tech by Upstate Milk. In earlier years, he worked at The Town Club of Jamestown, MRC and Ludwig Construction. He later retired from Fairbank Farms and worked part time for Fred Roberts Auto Parts until January 2020. Russ is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Soldano Ferraloro, whom he married October 28, 1967; a son, Russell A. Ferraloro, Jr. of Lakewood and daughter, Krista Ferraloro of Jamestown; and his grandson, Kristopher Donnelly of Jamestown. Also surviving is a sister, Mary Ann (Robert) Tonkin of Jamestown; twin cousins, Fran Gordon and Florence Cali, both of Jamestown; three sisters-in-law: Josetta Soldano of Jamestown, Rose Soldano of North Carolina and Marlene Ferraloro of Lakewood; as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Sebastian "Busty" Ferraloro in 2011, Anthony J. Ferraloro in 2006 and Carl Ferraloro in 1989; and a brother-in-law, Albert J. Soldano. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Apostles Parish, St. John Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende will be celebrant, with burial to be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
