Obituary of Amy I. Harle

Amy I. Harle, 95, of the Diffley Road, Ashville, died Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing Center in Greenhurst, NY. She was born March 21, 1925 in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of Ira and Mary Elizabeth Mapes Brown. A working mother for a large part of her life, she was employed at Weber Knapp, McKallor Drug Company, Shearman Brothers, Jamesway, Woolworth and both Midway and Lakewood Drive-Ins. She enjoyed Word Search puzzles, taking pictures of clouds and attending meetings of the 101st Airborne and 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment (Rakkasans) with her husband. Surviving are three children: Gregory (Janice) Harle, Bonnie (Ronald) Hammel and Allen (Cynde) Harle; ten grandchildren: Crystal Todd and Greg Harle Jr., Alison Smith and Amanda Wilson, Jennifer Curtin, Shannon Harle, Michael Harle, Michelle Neubauer, Amanda Crossley and Tasha Royce; twenty great grandchildren and her first great great grandaughter; as well as five nieces and five nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Robert J. Harle whom she married December 1, 1942 and who died July 19, 2014. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Jack and Charles Brown; three sisters, Elsie Garrison, Mae Freer and Catherine Lewis; three nieces, Sarah Garrison Vega, Emily Worden and Linda Porter and a nephew, Robert Lewis. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Heritage Green and Chautauqua Hospice for Amy's skilled, compassionate care. Final arrangements are by Lind Funeral Home. No visitation will be observed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association WNY, 2805 Wehrle Drive, Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221.
