Obituary of Kareem I. Walker

Kareem I. "Karrie" Walker of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020, in Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. He was born in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of Sallie Walker. He was a graduate of Jamestown High School and Jamestown Community College. Karrie was a "workaholic", a quality he inherited from his grandfather. Karrie began working at the age of 5 years, helping his grandfather with his trucking business and continued to work daily up to the day he was hospitalized. Trucking was his life line. He would work his normal 9 to 5 job and afterwards run his truck to midnight or later. His greatest accomplishment was owning his own trucking business, which he took great pride in. No job was too small or large. He would lift, carry and move the largest item. He excelled in basketballing, soccer and dancing. Even with his prosthesis, Karrie was on the dance floor. Karrie loved life and loved to laugh. He was able to find humor and joy in all situations. But most of all, he loved his family and would do anything for them. Besides his mother, Sallie (Robert Donaldson), he is survived by his children: Taylor (Calvin) Walker-Kinsey of Fredonia, N.Y., Kareem Jr. (Morgan Gardner), Kameron (Jakira Maisonet), Kyla, Kaprice and KeVion Walker, all of Jamestown: his grandchildren: Zavier, Zuri, Zion. Kavarii, Kavalii and Tianna: his aunts and uncles, who were as much of a parent to him as his mother: the Rev. Leroy and Debbie Walker and children: Janel (Tim) and Brandon (Natalie): Jerry and Theresa Walker and children: Chevelle "Chevy" Walker and Thereista "Felice" (late Albert) Stephens: Leary Sr. (late Cindy Sperry) and children: Leary Jr. "JR" and Katrina; Sue and Keith Blake and children: Keishia and Madison; and Brenda and Patrick Bunce and children: Stephanie (Eric), Alissa (John), Tessa (Bobby). He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his dog, Jonah, He was preceded in death by his son, Karee Walker, August 2019; his grandmother, Corrine Walker, November 2017; and his grandfather, Samuel (Sammie) August 1990. Observing NYS guidelines for restricted room occupancies during COVID-19, a walk-through visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, July 23 at the Lind Funeral Home. Masks are required. A private family funeral service will be held. The Rev. Reggie Smith will officiate.
