Obituary of Joseph A. DeMarco

Joseph A. "Joe" DeMarco, 73, of Jamestown, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, in the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH. A lifelong area resident, he was born June 30, 1947 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Anthony S. and Anne V. Basile DeMarco. Joe was a 1965 graduate of Jamestown High School where he was an integral part of leading the basketball team to a Lake Shore League championship. Before his retirement, he was employed for 35 years by the City of Jamestown Department of Public Works Streets Department. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, the Jamestown Elks Lodge and South Hills Country Club. He was one of the original players in the Italian American Charity Golf Tournament and a participated in the tournament for over 40 years in a row. Being an avid golfer, he loved going on his yearly golf trip to Florida with his golf buddies every year. Surviving are his childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 52 years, Beverly J. Cusimano DeMarco, whom he married July 13, 1968, two sons; Anthony J. (Brenna) DeMarco, Matthew J. (Aleicha Sanchez) DeMarco both of St. Petersburg, FL, a grandson, Lucas M. DeMarco, two brothers-in-law, Robert Cusimano, Joseph Cusimano, a sister-in-law, JoAnn DeMarco, his nieces and nephews, Christine DeMarco Yocum, Patrick DeMarco, Robert Cusimano, Debbie Cusimano Rossi, Kimberly Cusimano, Curtis Cusimano and Louis Cusimano. He was preceded in death by his father who died July 21, 1996, his mother who died July 24, 2017, and his brother Phillip P. DeMarco who died February 14, 2018. A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church. The Rev, Darrell G. Duffy, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. The family will receive friends, on a walk through basis, from 4-7 pm Friday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 6:45 pm Friday. Box 931517, Cleveland, OH 44193-1655. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, social distancing will be observed and masks are required while inside the funeral home.
