Obituary of Germina Castiglione

Germina Castiglione 97, formerly of 55 Roland Rd. Jamestown, NY, died Friday, October 2, 2020, in Trinity Village Nursing Home, Hickory, NC. A native of Venaus, Italy, she was born November 10, 1922, the fifth child of the late Ceasare and Mary Chiabaudo Rossetti. Germina graduated from Falconer High School in 1940 and lived most of her adult life in Jamestown. She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church. In 2013, she was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Castiglione whom she married April 22, 1946. Together they owned and operated Casty's Grocery store for 42 years. Germina also followed the death of her son Samuel Castiglione Jr, a granddaughter Lisa Castiglione, and her six Rossetti siblings, Blaise, Nilda Willett, Emma Mazzone, Louis, Alfred and Irene Rizzo. Germina loved to cook, swim, sew, knit and take care of her family and extended families. She is survived by her children Joann (William) Ryan of Elon, NC , Michael (Cynthia) Castiglione of Hickory, NC and daughter in law Deborah Castiglione of Jamestown NY; six grandchildren Richard (Amber) Walton, Julia (Mara) Sanchez, Michael (Laura) Castiglione, Gina (Lee) Whisnant, Joseph Castiglione and Andrea (Antonio) Benitez; seven great grandchildren, Keirick , Allison, Catherine, Jonathan, Logan, Samuel, and Luciana. In addition she is survived by her sister in law Maxine Castiglione, many nieces, nephews, as well as great nieces and great nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Wednesday October 28, 2020, in Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor will be celebrant. Visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Falconer, NY. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, social distancing will be observed and masks will be required.
