Obituary of Mark S. Federko

Mark S. Federko, 57, of Jamestown, NY, passed away at 3:58 am Saturday, October 31, 2020, in his home surrounded by his family following an extended illness. A lifelong area resident, he was born June 12, 1963 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Donald M. and Jennie Kaluza Federko. Mark was a 1981 graduate of Jamestown High School and earned his associates degree from Jamestown Community College in 1984. Before his retirement in 2018, he was employed by the Jamestown Fire Department for 32 years as a firefighter. He attended Holy Apostles Parish at Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church and was a member of the Morton Club, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, the Ellery VFW, and was a 30 year member of the Ingjald Lodge 65 Independent Order of the Vikings. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband and father who loved to cook, bake and enjoyed making his famous authentic heritage food. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved his annual game day outing with his close friends. Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Carol L. Underwood Federko whom he married October 5, 1996, two children; Brooke Federko and Shane Federko both at home, and two sisters; Michelle Marsh of Jamestown, Kathleen (Rick) Whippo of Frewsburg, NY. He was preceded in death by his father Donald on March 13, 1017 and his mother Jennie on August 14, 2017 and an infant brother Timothy Federko. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Apostles Parish at Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends on a walk through basis, according to Covid-19 restrictions, on Wednesday November 4, 2020 from 4-7 pm in the Lind Funeral Home, where social distancing will be observed and masks must be worn while in the funeral home.
