Obituary of Marguerite C. Mihal

Marguerite C. Mihal, 91, of Cleveland, Ohio fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, November 20, 2020. She was born in Jamestown on January 27, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Christ and Vasilka Poda Duro. A Thespian, Marguerite graduated with honors from Jamestown High School in 1947. She later attended college in Cleveland where she studied languages. She was a member of St. Elia Albanian Orthodox Church and the church's choir. She also belonged to the Eastern Orthodox Women's Guild and was a recipient of the Albanian Archdiocese of Boston's Lifetime Achievement Award for service and devotion to her church. Surviving is her son, Paul Mihal of Cleveland; and her aunt, Zoe Poda Michael. Marguerite was preceded in death in 2005 by her husband, Kostag Mihal; father, Christ in 1989 and mother, Vasilka in 1984; and two brothers, Thomas C. Duro in 2001 and Terry C. Duro in 2005. Observing social distancing, visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Jamestown, where a Trisagion service will take place at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Nicholas Church. Burial will follow in Lake View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 21 Mount Vernon Place, or St. Elia Albanian Orthodox Church, 103 Palmer St., both Jamestown, NY 14701.
