Obituary of Stephen H. Crouse

Stephen H. Crouse, 70, of Tanglewood Manor, died November 26, 2020 at UPMC Chautauqua. Steve was born on October 7, 1950 in Steamburg, NY, the second youngest of the nine children of the late Carl and Alma Nephew Crouse. After graduating from Salamanca High School, he enlisted in the Army, becoming a paratrooper. For his service in Vietnam, Steve was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (second medal with four campaign stars), Army Award, two Air Medals, Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for Heroism in Ground Combat. After his honorable discharge, Steve worked at Bush Industries in accounts payable, and earned an associate degree in Business Administration from Jamestown Community College. A resident of Tanglewood Manor for sixteen years, he was a pool and shuffleboard champion, resident of the month, and fitness person of the month. Many thanks to the Tanglewood staff for his wonderful care over the years, especially Shannon Carnahan and JoAnn Roberts. Steve won first place "bike" in the 2009 "Loop the Lake" event, and was a big Buffalo Bills fan. He was an enrolled citizen of the Seneca Nation of Indians and a member of the Beaver Clan. Steve is survived by his daughter, Tasha LeeAnn Crouse; brothers, Ronald Crouse and Edwin Crouse; and sisters, Maxine Dowler, Terri John, and Stephanie Witherite. He was predeceased by his parents and three sisters, Carol Fiebelkorn, Phoebe Crouse, and Carla Wheeler. There will be no services or visitation. Inurnment will be in Bunker Hill Seneca Nation Cemetery in Steamburg.
