Obituary of Donald E. Carlson

Donald E. Carlson, 87, formerly of Kimball Dr., Jamestown, NY, passed away at 2:25 am Saturday, January 23, 2021, in Absolut Care of Westfield, Westfield, NY. A lifelong area resident, he was born March 20, 1933 in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late John and Ruth Marker Carlson. Before his retirement, he was employed by the former Union National Furniture Company for 40 years. Following retirement he worked several part time jobs including Bush Industries and Pri-Det, as a security guard. Don was a member of the New Creation Assembly of God Church and will be remembered as one who loved music. He especially enjoyed listening to the Blackwood Brothers, Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie and all big band music. He also loved playing the piano and accordion. Surviving are his four children; Steven (Sharon) Carlson of Olean, NY, Kevin (Alice) Carlson of Gerry, NY, Scott (Bonnie Warner) Carlson of Jamestown, NY, Cheryl (Christopher) Boyd of Ray City, GA, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Joyce Melquist Carlson whom he married March 2, 1957 and who died December 12, 2003. A private family service will be held in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. William Blair, pastor of the New Creation Assembly of God Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
