Obituary of Michael E. Wright

Michael Edmund Wright passed away on January 26, 2021 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center, Culpeper, Virginia of complications of Multiple Sclerosis and COVID-19. Michael was born on April 30,1948 in Gouverneur, New York to Leah Nason and Donald E. Wright of Oswegatchie, New York. He married Linda St. Lawrence on July 29, 1967 at Lake Bonaparte, New York. He worked for Purolator, Inc. of Rahway, New Jersey before purchasing Carthage Auto Supply Inc. in 1973. While owning and managing Carthage Auto Supply, he served as a police officer for the Carthage Police Department. Later, Michael worked in management in the automotive parts industry in the Rochester, New York area until his retirement. Michael was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Carthage, and served in the United States Army Reserve and the New York National Guard. He is survived by his wife Linda of 53 years, his children and numerous grandchildren, his siblings, and many nieces and nephews. Michael was appreciated and loved by many for his devotion to wife and family, as well as his generosity of knowledge and time given to those in need. Whether he was outside perfecting the landscape, or inside completing a renovation, he loved working with his hands and with his four legged friends. He gained a lot of satisfaction by restoring old automobiles and farm equipment for himself and others. Throughout his life, his appreciation of music provided a sense of pride and peace, especially when performed by his children and grandchildren. He became instant friends with everyone he met, whether at the gas pump, or grocery line. One of his favorite expressions was "I'm the boss in this house, and I have my wife's permission to say so!" In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Oswegatchie Cemetery Association C/O A.D. Brown, 605 Oswegatchie Trail Road, Oswegatchie, New York 13670. A memorial celebration of life with family and friends will be held in July in Oswegatchie. Arrangements are with Lind Funeral Home in Jamestown, New York.
