Beverly was born in Jamestown October 18, 1933, one of seven children of the late Clarence and Marjorie Simpson Dowd, and was a graduate of Falconer High School. In early years, she was employed at Davidson's Restaurant as a car hop and later at Erickson's Restaurant as a waitress. Before her retirement, she worked in admissions at WCA Hospital for 22 years and became head supervisor over three shifts. Following retirement, she worked part time for Wegman's. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Lakewood. Beverly had many hobbies through the years. When she was young, she had a horse she rode, named Ned. She was a very good horseshoe player and bowled in a league at Flamingo Lanes for many years. She later joined a golf league at Willow Run where she had two holes-in-one and was a previous winner of the Drake Memorial Golf Tournament. Beverly also played in a tennis league until the age of 70. She loved playing cards, especially cribbage, and was an avid knitter, crocheter and made many quilts for family and friends. She was an artist who painted for family and friends and also sold many paintings. Beverly was very generous to all and always there for her family. She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie (George) Petro of Endwell, NY and son, Steven (Diane) Rhodes of Lakewood; grandchildren, James (Lauren) Petro of Endwell, Michael Brown of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Rachael Brown of Erie, PA; and great-grandchildren Logan and Kaylie Penton of Erie. Also surviving is a brother, Bob (Sharon) Dowd of Jamestown, NY, and sister, Virginia (Bob) Milks of Greenville, SC. In addition to her husband and parents, Beverly was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Harold and Clarence Dowd, and a sister, Delores Church.
