Obituary of Joan A. Patchett

Joan Alice Patchett, 91, of Jamestown, NY, passed away at 6:50 pm Sunday, February 14, 2021, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A first generation American, Joan was born January 6, 1930 in Jamestown, NY, the younger daughter of the late Walter and Rose Parry Patchett. A resident of Chautauqua County all her life, Joan graduated from Jamestown High School in 1948. After her children were in school, Joan attended the Potentials of Women Program at Jamestown Community College, graduating with an Associate's Degree. Joan worked as a photofinisher at the former Peerless Photo, a medical technologist at W.C.A. Hospital, and an alarm monitor and supervisor with Pri-Det Investigations, and as an appraiser and sales associate of antiques and jewelry in the North County. An avid photographer, and gifted artist, Joan created a legacy of beautiful works in a variety of mediums including textiles, china painting, drawing, pottery, sculpting and bronze casting. Surviving are son, Doug (Michelle McIntyre) Hoisington, a daughter, Dawn (Michael) Bennink and two grandsons, Malcolm Bennink and Miles Bennink. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles F. Hoisington, her second husband, David F. Soule, a son, John D. Hoisington and her sister, Greta R. Johnston. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
