Obituary of Jane L. Abersold

Jane Louise Abersold, 91, of Lakewood, NY, passed away peacefully at 4:02 pm Wednesday, February 17, 2021, in the Warren Manor, Warren, PA. As a lifelong area resident, Jane was born January 22, 1930 in the Town of Ellery, the daughter of the late Ward A. and Fern L. Simpson Vollentine, and was a 1947 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School. She was a healthcare aide working for Fenton Park Nursing Home and the Jamestown Visiting Nurses Association for over 16 years before retiring in 1986. As a devoted church member, Jane took pride in participating in events and volunteering often at the former Concordia Lutheran Church which is now New Hope Community Church. She was also a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club Auxiliary and a monthly "Birthday Club" with friends. Jane was always a lover of entertaining, opening her home and dinner table to any friends or family who stopped by. You could always be sure to find her cooking or baking in the kitchen. She will always be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and a friend to all. Surviving are her two daughters; Bonnie Hoyer of Jamestown, NY, Cindy Abersold Ferraro of Tampa, FL, five grandchildren; Adam Carlson of Panama, NY, Krista Shellenberger of Stafford, VA, Heather Nocero of Bemus Point, NY, Alyssa Carlson of Jamestown, NY, and Alexandra Ferraro of St. Petersburg, Fl, nine great grandchildren, one great great grandson and a sister, Barbara Barmore of Mayville, NY. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Elwood R. Abersold whom she married July 25, 1947 and who died March 25, 2005, as well as her three brothers, Howard, Ralph and Harold Vollentine. A private family service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 27, 2021, at the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Gregory Streed, retired pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Cassadaga Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home where social distancing will be observed and masks must be worn.
