Obituary of Steven L. Olmsted

Steven L. Olmsted, 47, of Kennedy, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 1, 2021, in the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, NY. He was stricken while on his yearly snowmobile trip with his sons. A lifelong area resident, he was born February 5, 1974 in Jamestown, NY, a son of Jack L. and Eva Gottwald Olmsted. Steve was a graduate of Southwestern Central School and also pilots school in Florida where he earned his commercial pilots license. He was the owner of Jamestown Sign Company LLC/ Signs and Sales by Peterson for many years. He was an avid snowmobiler and was a member of the Chautauqua Lake Snowmobile Club. He also loved hunting, fishing, camping and enjoyed traveling with his sons in his motor home. He loved being part of his son's activities and sponsored a Little League Baseball Team in Frewsburg. Surviving are his parents; Jack and Eva Olmsted of Mayville, NY, his wife Kelly L. Green Olmsted, whom he married November 4, 2000, his two sons; Alec R. Olmsted, Gage L. Olmsted, a sister; Kimi N. (Brian Boutin) Olmsted of Weeki Wachee, FL and his niece; Jessica N. Peterson of Springhill, FL. He is also survived by his constant companion, his dog "Sadie". He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Frieda and John Dingle, his paternal grandparents, Stanley and Betty Olmsted and his aunt, Jill Larson. A private family memorial service will be held in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Ronald R. Skowronski will officiate. Friends will be received on a walk through basis from 4-6 pm Friday in the Lind Funeral Home where social distancing will be observed and masks must be worn while in the funeral home.
