Obituary of Robert J. Lamp

Robert J. Lamp, 89, of Gerry, NY, formerly of Hazzard St. Jamestown, NY, passed away at 9:02 pm Wednesday, March 3, 2021, in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. An area resident for most of his life, he was born October 8, 1931 in Tonawanda, NY, a son of the late John and Regina Janecke Lamp. Bob was a graduate of Tonawanda High School and received his bachelor's degree in education from Buffalo State University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War. Before his retirement, he was the Principal at the former Lakewood Elementary School for many years. He began his teaching career as a 6th grade teacher at the Lakewood Elementary School. He was a longtime active member of the St. Luke's Episcopal Church where he was a Sunday school teacher and a Lay Leader, as well as serving on many other committees of the church. He was also a member of the Mt. Moriah Lodge 145 Free and Accepted Masons, the Jamestown Shrine Club and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He loved bowling and gardening and taking care of his home. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Ann Lorraine Vrusho Lamp who he married July 4, 1953, a daughter; Kathleen A. (Mac) Macaluso of McKean, PA, a son, Mark L. (Pamela) Lamp of Nashville, TN, four grandchildren; Courtney Macaluso Dore' (Chad Sterrett) of Erie, PA, Kyle Macaluso (Sara) of Columbus, OH, Greg Lamp (Katie) of Boulder, CO, Jeff Lamp (Catherine Carlisle) of Nashville, TN, two great grandchildren, Samantha Dore' and Charlotte Lamp, two sisters, Betty Ewald of North Tonawanda, Ardys Lerch of Cheektowaga and his sister-in-law, Roxanne Lamp of Tonawanda, NY. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Donald (Ginny) Lamp, Gerald Lamp and his brother-in-laws, Robert Ewald and Richard Lerch. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced by the Lind Funeral Home. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to the St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 410 North Main St. Jamestown, NY 14701.
