Obituary of Frank P. Hlosta

Frank P. Hlosta, 96, of 5011 Stoneledge Rd., Ashville, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 7, 1924 in Granger, Indiana, a son of the late Vincent and Katherine Hlosta. After graduating high school in Indiana, he moved to Buffalo and had worked at Curtiss Wright Corp before joining the U.S. Army. He proudly served from March 6, 1943 to February 12, 1946 in the 999th Engineer Treadway Bridge Company. He worked on the Red Ball Express supply route in France and later in December of 1944 in Antwerp, Belgium. After being discharged, he worked at American-Standard in Buffalo. He then became a co-owner of a dairy and beef farm in Niobe for 45 years. He was also a distributor and technician with Curtiss Breeding Service for 27 years and he later worked for Cummins Engine Co. and for local security companies including Pri Det Security Systems, American Protective Services, and Pinkerton and Securities, Inc. Frank was a member of the Lakewood American Legion and the Falconer Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed reading, hunting, and fishing. Frank is survived by a daughter Diane (late Russell) Belleville of Ft. Worth, FL, two sons Paul (Carmen) Hlosta of Ashville and Ray (Sara) Young of Orlando, FL; two grandchildren Erin Martin of Ft. Worth, FL and Skip Young of FL.; two stepchildren Norman Carlson and Brenda (late Richard) Wehrenberg, both of Busti; two step grandchildren Brita (Tim) Barlow-Johnson and Holly Barlow, both of Jamestown; and a niece and nephew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy A. Anderson Hlosta, whom passed away on July 8, 1987; his second wife Gladys L. Fosberg Hlosta, whom passed away on March 19, 2008; a sister Eleanor Lawson; and a brother Stanley Hlosta. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 8, 2021 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Carmen Perry, hospice chaplain will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Panama Union Cemetery at a later date. A walk-through visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home on Monday.
