Obituary of Dorothy V. Davis

Dorothy V. Davis, 93, of Heritage Village, Gerry NY, went on to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 5, 2021 in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. The eldest daughter of Swedish immigrants, Alfred and Julia (Swanson) Olson, she was born January 14, 1928 in Jamestown, NY. She was preceded by her husband, Paul B. Davis, passing on November 29, 2020 after a marriage of 70 years and a son, Timothy P. Davis in 2002. She is survived by two children, a son Steven L. Davis of Pittsfield, PA, a daughter Kathleen Martin of Frewsburg , NY, two sisters Florence Johnson of Ashville, NY, Nancy Crimmins of Granbury, TX, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She attended several area schools including Levant, Love, Celeron and Lakewood. A loving mother and wife devoting the majority of her time to her family. She was employed at several area businesses including the Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Children's Home, Kresge's, and Automatic Voting Machine. Committed to her faith in Jesus, she actively attended church most recently at South Stockton Wayside Chapel until health problems limited her confinement to Heritage Village. While living in Flowery Branch, Georgia she volunteered at a local school in a rehab reading program for the children. Due to interest in her Swedish heritage, she attended local Scandinavian festivals and was excited to view the King of Sweden when he came to Jamestown during his tour of the U.S. A. in 1976. She also was able to travel to Sweden to experience its culture and connect for the first time with her Swedish family. She enjoyed cooking and crafts such as knitting and crocheting which she enjoyed sharing with others. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Lind Funeral Home, 805 W. 3rd St., Jamestown N.Y. . The family will receive friends on a walk through basis on Monday March 8, 2021 from 1-2 PM with social distancing required. Due to covid-19 protocols the funeral service will be limited to immediate family and will follow with the Rev. David Diffenderfer and Rev. Philip Shay officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. There will be no graveside service.
