Obituary of M. Susan Wright

M. Susan (Axelson) Wright, 81, of Jamestown, NY went to be with her Lord and Savior April 1, 2021 at UPMC Chautauqua in Jamestown, NY. She was born November 7, 1939 in Jamestown, NY, daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Lindstrom Axelson. Sue was a 1957 graduate of Jamestown High School and a 1960 graduate of Highland Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester, NY. After graduation from nursing school Sue earned her RN and worked for Jamestown General Hospital and then WCA Hospital, retiring in 1998 after many years as a surgical nurse in the operating room. Upon retirement, she enjoyed helping with household sales, knitting, baking, cooking, and celebrating her Swedish heritage. But most of all she spent her life helping others and trying to always do something special for someone. Sue was a member of Thule Lodge #127 VASA Order of America, Ingjald Lodge #65 Independent Order of Vikings, and the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club Auxiliary. She was an active member of Fluvanna Community Church for many years and lived her faith daily. During recent years she was also a faithful listener to Five Mile Community Church in Breathitt County, KY. As a final gift of her earthly remains she donated her organs and tissues as a lasting gift to others, to Connect Life of Western New York. She is survived by her husband, Richard F. Wright, with whom she celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past December. Also surviving are her children: Kevin (Nina) Wright of Lancaster, NY, and Shawn (Lisa) Wright of Jackson, KY; grandchildren Brandon Wright of Greenbelt, Md, Josiah Wright of Lexington, KY, and Joanna Wright of Jackson, KY; a brother David "Skip" (late Joyce) (Pat Bartoldson) Axelson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, whose dedication and sacrifice to her extended family was unending. May God welcome her into his loving arms to claim her eternal peace. Until we are together again, she will be dearly missed. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Fluvanna Community Church, 3363 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown, NY 14701. Visitation will be observed from noon till 1 p.m. in the church. Interment will be in Fluvanna Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the Wendy Sue Axelson Scholarship Fund (i/c/o Chautauqua Region Community Foundation), Fluvanna Community Church, Five Mile Community Church, Chautauqua County Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
