Obituary of Eugene Paul Forness

Eugene Paul Forness, 85, of the Old Fluvanna Road, Jamestown, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing. Gene was born March 22, 1936 in Buffalo, NY and was a son of the late Leslie P. and Minnie TeWinkle Forness. He served in the U.S. Army from August 1959 to August of 1961. A salesman for the former Jacobson-Weakley-Olson in Jamestown, Gene in later years was a school bus driver for Jamestown city schools. He was a member of Fluvanna Community Church, as well as the War Vets Recreation and Celoron American Legion. He was also an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Surviving is a daughter, Alicia (Mark) DePonceau of Jamestown and son, Joseph (Allison) Makuch of Dothan AL; five grandchildren: Hunter DePonceau, Collin DePonceau, Chase DePonceau, Jordan (Katelyn) Makuch and Joseph Makuch II; two great-grandchildren, Maddox and Alexis Makuch; and a brother, Robert (Lori) Forness of Hamburg, NY. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Nelson Forness in 1984 and second wife, Charlene Brown Forness in 2014; and a brother and his wife, Richard and Shirley Forness. The family will receive friends in a walk-through manner from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home, with a graveside committal service to be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Lake View Cemetery. The Rev. Gerald Haglund will officiate. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
