Obituary of Catherine D. Cappa

Catherine D. "Kay" Cappa, formerly of Evelyn Drive Jamestown, NY, passed away at 5:31 am Sunday, April 18, 2021, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility on her 98th birthday. A lifelong area resident, she was born April 18, 2021 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Cammarata DeFrancisco. She was currently a communicant of St. James Catholic Church, and in previous years had been active at St. John Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society for many years. Surviving is a son. Michael R. (Shirley) Cappa of Jamestown, four grandchildren, Gregory T. (Kate) Lindstrom of Denver, CO, Stacey Kay (Jake) Weckesser of Medina, OH, Scott J. (Stephanie) Cappa, Brett M. (Jessica) Cappa both of Jamestown, NY, 14 great grandchildren, Tyler M. Cappa, Jacey V. Cappa, Kaylee M. Cappa, Ellie L. Cappa, Berke Lindstrom, Gannon Lindstrom, Harvey Lindstrom, Audrina E. Cappa, Rex J. Cappa, twins Hunter and Harper Cappa, Rosie Weckesser, Henry Weckesser, Harrison Weckesser, a brother, Leonard C. (Celia) DeFrancisco of Falconer, NY, a nephew, Michael DeFrancisco, as well as many other nieces and nephews in the large extended Cappa Family. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Carl M. Cappa whom she married July 15, 1944 and who died May 12, 2001, and a daughter, Rose Marie Cappa Lindstrom who died March 8, 2000. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Wednesday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor will be celebrant. Entombment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends will be received on a walk-through basis from 5-8 pm Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 7:45 pm Tuesday. Social distancing will be observed and masks must be worn while inside the funeral home. The Cappa Family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Green for the compassionate care they have provided to Mrs. Cappa for the past two years.
