Obituary of Maureen A. McAlear

Maureen A. "Mimi" McAlear, 73, of 189 Willow Ave., formerly of 160 Benedict Ave. in Jamestown, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing. She was born December 2, 1947 in Needham, MA, a daughter of the late James M. and Kathleen "Betty" O'Neil McAlear, and was a graduate of New Providence High School in New Jersey. Mimi came to Jamestown in 1988 and joined The Resource Center family in 1990. Throughout the years, she had been employed by The Resource Center, Clearwater Aquarium, Bush Industries, and for 10 years at the Lakewood Taco Bell. She enjoyed volunteering at the Chautauqua County Humane Society, given her love of cats. She also liked horseback riding, golf, roller skating and bowling. Mimi was a very independent person and loved to travel. Surviving are two brothers: James M. (Pailin) McAlear of Thailand and Jon O. McAlear of Harwich, MA; seven nieces and nephews: Christine (Christian) Norgeot, Jay (Jo) McAlear, Kevin (Mary) Mitchell, Brian (Betsy) Mitchell, Jennifer McAlear, Scott McAlear and Jimmy McAlear; as well as several great- nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen McAlear Mitchell who died June 1, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 25th in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Wednesday.
