Obituary of Joan M. Watson

Joan M. Watson, 83, of the Fluvanna-Townline Road, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021 in her home. She was the widow of John W. Watson, whom she married June 22, 1958 and who died September 8, 2004. Joan was born March 19, 1938 in Cortland, NY, the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary Jane Merrill Smith, and was a graduate of Jamestown High School. For 30 years she had been employed by the Acu-Rite Co. in Jamestown, retiring as an inspector. Joan previously served as vice president of the Jamestown Safety Council, was a member of the War Vets Recreation, and in earlier years enjoyed bowling. Following retirement, she volunteered as a teacher's aide at Bemus Point Elementary School. Surviving are four sons: Brian D. (Karen) Watson of Gerry, NY, Timothy "Jay" Watson of Celoron, and Stephen D. and Albert A. Watson, both of Jamestown; seven grandchildren: Michael Watson, Corey Watson, Daniel Watson, Kevin Watson, Aaron Restivo, Erica Cullen and Tearra Watson; and six great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Cygan will officiate. Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. for one hour prior to the service Monday. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W.
