Obituary of Lois L. Anderson

Lois Lundberg Anderson, 98, of 537 Weeks Street, Jamestown, and Brookdale Senior Living in Lakewood, died August 27,2021. Lois was born in Jamestown on March 5, 1923, a daughter of the late John Ephraim Lundberg and Selma Barkman Lundberg. A 1941 graduate of Jamestown High School, she graduated from Elmira College in 1945. She completed her master's degree in art education at SUNY Fredonia in the early 70s. Lois worked as a teacher for many years in the Southwestern, Falconer, and Jamestown school districts in addition to teaching in Batavia, Illinois. Most recently she served as the art teacher at Celoron Elementary School for approximately 20 years. Following retirement, she worked as a teacher and docent for the Fenton History Center until she was almost 80. Lois remained active as a watercolor artist until just recently. Earlier she had served as the president of the Chautauqua County Artists Association. Lois also served as a member of the board of trustees of the Epworth Methodist Church. Lois is survived by her son, Bruce Anderson (Yukiko Kanai) of Glen Ridge, NJ, and her daughter Mary Anderson Ochs (Mark) of Trumansburg, NY; and three grandchildren, Andrew Ochs (Nicole) of Marshfield, MA, Daniel Ochs (Alexis) of Marshfield, MA, and Rebecca (Tihomir) Jambrovic of Motovun, Croatia. She was preceded in death in 2012 by her husband, LeRoy M. Anderson and her sister, Marian Lundberg Congdon. A private family graveside service will be held in the Chestnut Hill section of Lake View Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
