Obituary of Eugene A. DeCastro

Eugene A. DeCastro, 77, of Jamestown, NY passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, in Erie, PA. An area resident for most of his life, he was born August 19, 1944, in Dunkirk, NY, a son of the late Joseph M. and Mary Posticciola De Castro. He was a graduate of Jamestown High School and Erie Community College. Before his retirement he was an engineer for Jamestown Metal Products and for the Blackstone-Ney Ultrasonics Corporation. In earlier years he worked for the Marlin Rockwell Corporation. During his career, Gene was responsible for 13 patents in the designing of medical equipment. He was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and had a keen Interest in radio-controlled car racing. Surviving are three daughters; Brenda J. (John III) Barton of Gerry, NY, April A. (Ralph, Jr.) Wallace of Jamestown, Christine M. (Jim) Wright of St. Louis, MO, seven grandchildren; Johnny (Kate Edel) Barton of Richmond, VA, Ali (Justin Rice) Barton of Amherst, NY, Molly (Reece Bly) Barton of State College, PA, Ralph (Rebecca) Wallace, III, Lillian (Bronson Edwards) Wallace both of Jamestown, Brian Wright, Bradley Wright both of St. Louis, MO, a great granddaughter, Kendal Ann Wallace of Jamestown and his companion, Susan Lasher of Erie, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, the former Lois E. Tonkin DeCastro whom he married October 10, 1964, and who died March 23, 2008. The funeral will be held at 4 pm Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. James Witherington, hospice chaplain and Gene's brother-in-law will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm Sunday just prior to the service. Due to recent COVID policies masks must be worn.
