Obituary of Michelle Rogene Johnson-Anderson

Michelle Rogene Johnson-Anderson, 60, of Hoag Road, Ashville, died Monday September 6, 2021, in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born to Gail and Joan Hornstrom Johnson August 23, 1961, in Jamestown. She graduated from Panama Central School in 1979 where her guidance counselor convinced her she would make a good nurse. She was uncertain at first, but looking back, felt it was the greatest decision of her life. She received an associate degree in nursing from Jamestown Community College. She was the first in her family to obtain a college degree and was named a Nurse of Distinction honor from JCC. She went on to earn a BSN from Daemon College, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She began her career at Warren General Hospital and worked in the homecare field until 2003 when she decided to become an instructor for the BOCES LPN Program. She loved teaching and looked forward to each new class. She was forced to retire in March of 2021 due to her diagnosis of ALS. She loved to laugh and her laugh was infectious. A good joke or humorous story never failed to tickle her funny bone. She loved her entire family and how every one of them pulled together to help her. The family would like to express a special thank you to Beth Ruth and Dr. Matt Chang for all their support. Thanks also to Michelle’s cousin Stacey Curry for all the research and help she provided and to the Watts Flats United Methodist Church for needed medical equipment that assisted Michelle’s quality of life. Finally, we would like to express our sincerest thanks to all the students, friends, family and coworkers who donated to the GoFundMe and other fundraisers set up for Michelle. Surviving is her husband Kyle Anderson; stepson Jessy Anderson; Step daughter Shena (Dave Ahlquist) Anderson; grandson Hayden and little Davey Anderson; a daughter Morgan Anderson; her mother Joan Johnson; brothers Andy (Terrie) Johnson and Jeff Johnson; nieces, Kristin Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Brandi (Jon) Bankowski, Tara (Dan) Auflick and nephew Derek (Krystin) Johnson. She was preceded in death by her father Gail Johnson. The funeral will be held at 10:30 am Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The service will also be livestreamed beginning at 10:15 Saturday at www.lindfuneralhome.com. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville.
