Obituary of Lois J. Livingston

Lois J. Livingston of 7 Crawford Lane, Lakewood, passed away on her 78th birthday, Wednesday September 29, 2021, in her home surrounded by her family. A native of Johnstown, PA, she was born September 29, 1943, the daughter of the late Ned and Lorraine Krug Gordon. Following graduation from Johnstown Central High School, she received a bachelor's degree in Home Economics from Indiana State University of Pennsylvania and later a master's degree from Buffalo State University. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Southwestern Central School for 32 years as a teacher of Home and Careers and Early Childhood Development. A woman of varied interests, she enjoyed traveling around the world, bridge, gourmet cooking, book club, Mahjong, pickleball, golf, ballroom dancing, tennis, and many Lakewood social groups. She was a member of New York State Teachers Association, New York Retired Teachers, Chautauqua Women's Golf Association, and Lakewood Women's Club. She served on the board of directors for Lakewood Library, Marvin Community House, and Chautauqua Golf Club. Yet, her most cherished roles were that of Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. Surviving is her husband John Livingston, whom she was married to for over 55 years (July 9, 1966); two children Gregory (Amy) Livingston of Lakewood and Amy "Ame" (Anthony Leps) Livingston of Orlando, FL; three grandsons Benjamin, Ethan and Samuel Livingston and their beloved dog, Clifford. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday November 6, 2021, in Hillcrest Baptist Church. Visitation will not be observed.
