Obituary of Donald C. Peterson

Donald C. Peterson, 82, of Jackson Avenue, West Ellicott, formerly of Frewsburg, died Sunday October 10, 2021, in UPMC Chautauqua. He was a 1957 graduate of Southwestern Central School. Prior to his retirement he owned and operated D. C. Peterson Paving for 47 years. He was a member of the Masons, Thule Lodge, Vikings, Carroll Rod and Gun Club, Moose Lodge, American Legion and lastly the Norden Club where he served on the board of directors. Don thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a true love of the outdoors and his Swedish heritage. Fishing trips to Canada with his brother, sons, grandsons, and nephews were a highlight of each year. He was a very social person and always found time for conversation with friends over a cup of coffee and a meal especially at Schuylers or Fishers. He was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and the Sabres. More than anything he loved time spent with his grandchildren, showing his support by attending their sporting events and concerts. Surviving is his wife Sharon Anderson Peterson, whom he married in 1983; two sons Michael (Debbie) Peterson of Jamestown and Andrew (Alicia Stocking) Peterson of North Tonawanda; stepchildren Jodie (Brad) Meyer of Indianapolis, IN, Lori (Scott) Givens of Pelham Manor, NY and John Greenwood of Jamestown; grandchildren Joshua, Jacob, Julia and Daniel Peterson, Olivia and Sophie Meyer and Grant and Brock Givens; a brother L. Durand (Janice) Peterson of Jamestown and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday October 23, 2021, in the Lind Funeral Home where friends will be received from noon to 1:30 prior to the service. Due to new COVID-necessitated policies, masks are required, regardless of immunization status. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
