Obituary of Margaret D. Blakeslee

Margaret Dzupin Blakeslee passed away peacefully on October 5, 2021, at UPMC Chautauqua. Margaret was born on April 28, 1929, in Garfield, NJ, to Alex and Marie Dzupin. She is preceded in death by the love her life, her husband, Charles J. Blakeslee and her sister, Marie D. Young. Margaret graduated from Adelphi University in Garden City, Long Island, with a Bachelor of Science. She started her career as a dietitian at Englewood Hospital, Englewood, NJ, and then became the School Lunch Director for the Mineola Public Schools on Long Island, NY. She married Charles in 1952 and moved to Buffalo, NY, with their twins in 1954. Margaret is survived by her children: Terese (Garry) Mathewson, twin brother Robert Charles Blakeslee, and Valerie (Dudley) Cullum, five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. As a youth, Margaret was a majorette, trick twirler and swimmer. She loved gardening and was a talented artist who taught painting for many years. Margaret was also a crafter, seamstress, and quilter and blessed and inspired others with her creativity. Margaret was a member of Fluvanna Community Church and served the Lord there for many years sewing dolls, quilts, etc. for the children in Mexico with Hands of Love Ministry. Margaret loved her family and will be missed dearly by them. The funeral service will be private.
