Obituary of Betty J. Rasmussen

Betty J. Rasmussen, 85, of Forest Avenue in Jamestown, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing. A lifelong Jamestown resident, she was born in Jamestown April 22, 1936, one of six children of the late John and Ernestine Lawson Olson. She was a homemaker most of her life, and in earlier years worked as a beautician. Betty loved all creatures, especially her feline friends. Surviving is her husband, Richard A. Rasmussen, Sr. whom she married in June of 1954; two sons: David J. Rasmussen (Marilou) of Jamestown, and Dr. Richard A. Rasmussen, Jr. of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren: Dr. Marc Rasmussen, Dr. Matthew Rasmussen, Dr. Richard Rasmussen III, and Dr. Kirsten Walther, all of Florida; a brother, Ray Olson (Carol) of Jamestown; as well as a sister-in-law, Donna Olson of Wisconsin. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Marion Bessey, Francis Olson and Edith Wheeler; and a brother, Frederick Olson. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, October 30th in the Lind Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will be held in Lake View Cemetery.
