Obituary of James S. Pellerino

It is with profound sadness that the family of James S. Pellerino announces his passing on November 29, 2021, who died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 94. Formerly of High Acres, Bemus Point, his last years were spent as a resident of Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing. Born in Jamestown on February 2, 1927, James was the son of Italian immigrant's, the late Angelo and Rose Pellerino. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in Italy and Yugoslavia. James was employed for many years by the former Carpino's TV, Furniture & Appliance store on East 2nd Street in Jamestown. He was one of Jamestown's premier TV repairmen in the 1950's and 60's when televisions still had tubes, long before Smart TVs, and was always seen carrying his tube case. He retired as manager of Caprino's Furniture, then on Foote Avenue Ext. James was a member of St. John Catholic Church. His daughter, Debra, had the privilege recently of having given him his final Holy Communion in July 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriett (Bloomberg) Pellerino, who died May 14, 2004, as well as several brothers and sisters. James is survived by his sister, Grace Pellerino Peatman of Jamestown; two daughters, Debra Pellerino Stansfield of San Diego, CA and Barbara Pellerino Lewis of Tustin, CA; and two grandchildren, Taylor Lewis and Joshua Lewis, both of Orange, CA. James will always be remembered as a funny guy who loved Juicy Fruit gum, Sunday spaghetti dinners and who loved his afternoon naps. Debra will remember their long, hand-in-hand walks on unpaved Jamestown roads from Hazzard Street to Tastee-Freeze on Foote Avenue for ice cream. A private family prayer service will be held in the Lind Funeral Home on December 17, 2021, led by Deacon Samuel Pellerito. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
