Obituary of David D. Abbey

David D. Abbey, Jr., 40, of Lakewood, NY, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021, as a result of an automobile accident in the village of Lakewood. An area resident for most of his life, he was born January 5, 1981, in Jamestown, NY, a son of David D. Abbey, Sr. and Debra A. Eaton Sampson. He was a graduate of Southwestern Central School and for the past three years had been employed by Hope's Windows, Inc. He will be remembered for his love of golfing, tinkering, and working on projects and working with his hands to fix anything that needed to be done. Surviving is his father, David D. Abbey, Sr. of Lakewood, his mother, Debra A. Sampson of Wellsville, NY, his wife of 12 years, Barbara J. Winhaber Abbey, whom he married June 27, 2009, three sons, Chase F. Abbey, Reece M. Abbey, Greyson Blackburn, three sisters, Jessica Abbey, Cherrie Mahon, Carrie Mahon all of Rochester, NY, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jerry and Joan Cornelius, and his paternal grandparents, Frederick and Barbara Abbey, and his uncle Steven Eaton. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends and family will be received from 3-6 pm Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. In accordance with New York State mandates, masks must be worn while inside the funeral home.
