Obituary of David J. Finnemore

David J. Finnemore, 91, of 14 Myers Avenue in Jamestown, passed away Monday, December 13, 2021 at the Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing facility. He was the husband of the late Marilyn Howard Finnemore who died January 3, 1981. David was born September 5, 1930 in Cuba, NY, a son of the late David J. and Ruth Thompson Finnemore, and was a graduate of Cuba Central High School. A Jamestown resident most of his life, he was employed for 7 years by the AVM Corporation, then Premium Tool & Die, and retired after 12 years as a polisher with Hytech Tool & Die. David was a member of Christ First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking and barbershop singing, having sung with the quartet, the Rolling Tones, for 40 years. A polio survivor, David was a part of the local Post-Polio Club. He never let polio be a disability and for many years was a 'paper hanger', wallpapering and painting in people's homes. Surviving are two daughters: Deborah (Ron) Johnson of Port Allegany, Pa., and Diane Buck of Jamestown; three grandchildren: Kylie Buck of Philadelphia, PA, Samantha Buck and Kelsey Buck, both of Jamestown; four great-grandchildren, Terry "TJ" Davis, Arianna Davis, Leo Andrews and Myla Davis, all of Jamestown; as well as two brothers, Rupert Finnemore of Delevan, NY and Douglas Finnemore of Ames, Iowa. In addition to his wife and his parents, David was preceded in death by stepparents, Jacob and Mildred Mogue, and two sisters, Jacqueline Trask and Betty Jo Wagner. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022 in Christ Chapel of Christ First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Susan Hadley will officiate. Inurnment will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. for two hours prior to the service Saturday. The family suggests memorials may be made to Little Angels Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Box 105, Mayville, NY 14757.
