Obituary of Helen June Swanson

Helen June Swanson, 90, formerly of High Acres, Bemus Point, NY, passed away at 7:50 am Thursday, December 16, 2021, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident, she was born December 20, 1930, in Watts Flats, NY, a daughter of the late Emmette and Martha Gibbs Fuller. Before her retirement she was employed as a claims adjuster for the former Unigard Insurance Company in Jamestown. She had also worked for the Bemus Point School District and for Quality Markets, Inc. She was a member of the Fluvanna Community Church where she enjoyed attending the "sippin seniors" activities at the church. She was also a member of the Red Hatters Society and will be remembered as one who enjoyed collecting antiques. Helen loved spending time with her family and many friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also had a keen interest in local history and genealogy. Surviving are two sons, Darryl (Terry) Braley of Jamestown, James (Kathy) Haight of Phoenix, AZ, four grandchildren, Jason (Bridget) Braley of Buffalo, NY, Ryan (Julie) Braley of Virginia Beach, VA, Alysha (Ryan) Hoag of Columbus, OH, Andrew (Elizabeth) Braley of Albany, NY, eight great grandchildren, as well as several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eric A. Swanson who died November 12, 1992, and a stepson, Taylor F. Haight, Jr. The funeral will be held at 3 pm Sunday, December 19, 2021, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Larry Petry, chaplain of Heritage Green will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Sunday in the funeral home where masks are required to be worn.
