Obituary of Paula A. Pickett

Paula A. Pickett, 65, of 242 State Street in Jamestown, passed away Monday morning, December 27, 2021. Paula, born May 13, 1956 in Carnegie, PA, was the daughter of the late George and Shirleyann Creen Nutbrown. She was the wife of Timothy P. Pickett whom she married June 7, 1980 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Westfield, NY. She was a graduate of Jamestown Community College and Mercyhurst University, ultimately receiving her Master's degree in Food and Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Paula was a Registered Dietician and for the last 35+ years worked for the Resource Center and Lutheran Social Services serving in different capacities including Dietary Director. She was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and served as Warden of the Vestry for several years, had chaired the Stewardship Committee, taught Sunday School, acted as coordinator for Reading Camp, and was a Delegate to the Diocesan Convention. Paula was an active member of the WNY Dietetic Association and throughout her years also committed her time to Meals On Wheels, which included serving on the Board of Directors, to the Girl Scouts of WNY, and to the Boy Scouts of America. In addition to her husband, Tim, those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Amanda (Adam) Oxenreider of Ellicott City, MD and son, John (Dawn) Pickett of Jamestown; seven grandchildren: McKenzie, Zachary, Emmory and Wesley Pickett, and Aden, Avry and Ari Oxenreider; and two brothers, Curt (Silvia) Nutbrown of Springfield, VA, Clay (Jaynne) Nutbrown of Ocala, FL, and a sister, Sandy Nutbrown of Morganton, NC; and numerous other relatives and friends. Besides her parents, she is also preceded in death by a brother, George "Chip" Nutbrown, Jr. The service will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, with the Reverend Luke Fodor officiating. An interment in St. Luke's Columbarium with immediate family will follow at a later time. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2022 in the Lind Funeral Home. The family requests memorials may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
