Obituary of James V. DeFrisco

James V. DeFrisco, 90, formerly of 117 Valleyview Ave. Jamestown, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022, in Vero Beach, FL. A Jamestown resident for most of his life, he was born July 26, 1931, in Staten Island, NY, a son of the late James and Rose Pollaro DeFrisco. Before his retirement he was employed by the Jamestown Board of Education as a custodial supervisor at Washington Junior High School. He was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at St. John Catholic Church and a member of the Marco Polo Club and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed golfing and bowling in his bowling league and also enjoyed tending to his garden. Surviving is his daughter: Rose Mary McIlvain of Vero Beach, FL, two grandchildren: Robert (Brooke) McIlvain of Jamestown, Rebecca (Daniel) Mastera of FL, three great grandchildren: Victoria, Maria and Danielle McIlvain, and his brother: Victor (Roseann) DeFrisco of Jamestown. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife the former Mary Amato DeFrisco whom he married February 21, 1951, and who died Feb 20, 1999, two sisters: Margaret Rowley, Lucille Cheney and a brother, Salvatore DeFrisco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Holy Apostles Parish at St. John Catholic Church. The Rev. Todd Remick, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3:00 – 5:00 pm Monday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 4:45 pm Monday in the funeral home.
