Obituary of Mary R. Worden

Mary Worden 89, of Jamestown, NY, passed away at 8:55 am Wednesday, March 23, 2022, in UPMC Chautauqua. A lifelong area resident, she was born November 11, 1932, in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Frank J. and Margaret C. Rotolo Norris. In earlier years she had worked for the National Worsted Mills, the former Big-N Department Store and later for the former Tommie's Pizza Shop. She was a member and past chairman of the Chautauqua County Home Bureau, and the Chautauqua County Artist Society. She enjoyed teaching ceramics, doing needlework, painting, and cooking for her large family gatherings. Surviving is her two children: Frederick L. Worden, Jr., of Jamestown, Linda S. (Frank) Whitacre of Ellington, NY, two grandchildren: Vicki L. (Russ) Rumsey of Sinclairville, NY, Jessica N. Thomas of Arkansas, seven great grandchildren: Micheal S. (Lisa) Whitacre, Joshua A. (Sammy) Whitacre, Ashlie M. (Brandon) Doner, Kaylyn E. Chadwick, Gavin B. Thomas, Alexendar J. Thomas, Anastasia Thomas, four great great grandchildren: Joshua Whitacre, Jr., Valerie Whitacre, Branson Doner, Bailey Doner and her sister: Barbara Bianco of Lakewood, NY. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick L. Worden, Sr. whom she married January 2, 1951, and who died April 23, 2016, and two brothers, John Norris, and Louis Norris. The funeral will be held at 2pm Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Sue Fish will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friend will be received from 1-2pm Sunday, one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
