Obituary of Violet E. Bova

Violet E. Bova, 96, formerly of 15 W. 4th Street, West Ellicott, died Sunday April 3, 2022. In Heritage Rehab and Skilled Nursing. A Jamestown resident all of her life, she was born September 22, 1925, a daughter of Ragnar and Margaret Hassey Kalen. In 1943 she graduated from Celoron High School and in 1946 from WCA Hospital School of Nursing. Prior to her retirement in 1988, she was employed by Jamestown General Hospital as a registered nurse and nuclear medicine technologist. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Susan Center, gardening in her woodlot, visiting her children and grandchildren, scrapbooking with her sister and niece, lunches with friends, feeding her birds and deer, vacationing with her children and being with her nieces and nephews. Surviving is a daughter Cynthia (Frank) Hendrickson of Vancouver, BC; a son Joe (Carrie) Bova of Olean; three grandsons Ashley Charmin of Vancouver, Joshua (Bernice) Bova of Olean and Jim Bova of Chicago and a sister Ruby Gustafson of Lakewood. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bova, whom she married January 10, 1947, and who died June 25, 1980, and her beloved son Jerry Bova March 18, 2002.
