Obituary of Marilyn E. Arters

Marilyn E. Arters, 87, formerly of 179 Stowe Street, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 while residing at the Lutheran Home & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Jamestown on August 16, 1934, the daughter of the late Herbert M. and Esther Johnson Juel, and was a 1952 graduate of Jamestown High School. She married William E. Arters on December 20, 1952. In earlier years she worked at the former Darling Jewelry, Municipal Lab, Loblaws, and AM PM Mini Mart. She retired as a cashier after a number of years with Kwik Fill in Lakewood. Marilyn enjoyed several trips to Myrtle Beach, camping at Hidden Valley, reading, and especially her pet dogs through the years. The family wishes to thank everyone at Lutheran for Marilyn's wonderful care, and where she was known as "Giggles" by the staff because of her personality. She leaves behind two sons: Douglas (Linda) Arters and Jeffrey (Stephanie) Arters, both of Jamestown, and a son-in-law, Jerry Hoitink of Falconer; three grandchildren: Brian (Jessica) Hoitink, Holly Hoitink, and Jill Piazza; three great-grandchildren: Justin Patti, Nicolas Hoitink, and Andrew Piazza; as well as a nephew, James Juel. Along with her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, William, who died June 8, 2008; a son, Craig Arters in 1993 and a daughter, Cynthia Hoitink in 2015; and a brother, Charles Juel who died in 2011. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Friday.
