Obituary of Patricia Buttafaro

Patricia Buttafaro, 89, of 2123 Southwestern Drive, Lakewood, formerly of 40 Sherman Street in Jamestown, passed away Monday, July 11, 2022 in her home surrounded by her daughter and granddaughters. She was the wife of Anthony Buttafaro whom she married July 2, 1955. A Jamestown native, Patty was born April 8, 1933 and was a graduate of Jamestown High School. In earlier years, she was employed by Dr. Caccamise as his dental assistant; and then at WCA in central supply until the birth of her daughter. She attended JCC for an Associate degree and later, returned to work at CC Ring School as a teacher's aide in remedial reading. Patty ultimately retired from WCA Hospital as unit secretary of the ICU at the age of 82, after over 25 years of employment there. Patty was a much-loved friend and co-worker to all she worked with. She was a member of St. James Church, the Jamestown Teacher's Union, and Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. She donated to many charities regularly to help those in need. An avid Buffalo Bills and Yankees fan, Patty loved all sports. She enjoyed any sports pool, along with playing scratch off tickets. You could often find her standing at the newsroom or grocery store scratching her tickets. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, wonderful aunt, and very dear friend. She touched so many with her kindness and loving heart. Along with her husband Tony, surviving is their daughter, Lisa (Todd) Walter of Erie; three granddaughters: Erika (Quinton) Gregory of Buffalo, Ashley (Salvatore) Rapasadi of Westfield, and Jessica (Derek) DeJac of Buffalo; four great grandchildren: Isla and Qai Gregory, and Dmitri and Dominic DeJac; sister, Rose Marie Kalin of Portland, OR; cousin, Sandra Jones of Palmdale, CA; as well as several nieces and nephews. Patty is preceded in death by her grandmother who raised her, Gertrude Blasyak; her mother Florence Ambrose; two aunts Clara Cockshott and Leona Dimas; and her son-in-law, Edward Raymond. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16th in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Todd Remick will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 6 p.m. Friday evening. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750; or to the Alzheimer's Assoc. of WNY, 6215 Sheridan Dr., Suite 100, Amherst, NY 14221-4837.
