Obituary of Giampiera Miele

Giampiera "JoAnn" Miele, 84, of 301 Lakeview Avenue, died Thursday August 18, 2022, surrounded by her family in her home. A native of Milan, Italy, she was born November 8, 1937, a daughter of the late Sam and Rina Ghiringelli Cali. Coming to the US in 1956, she worked at Chautauqua Hardware. She and her late husband co-owned several restaurants including Colonial Whip, Mattia's, Aldos and Dynasty Restaurant. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. Surviving are three children Grace (Michael) Anderson of Jamestown, Anthony (Mary) Miele of Murfreesboro, TN and Aldo (Laura) Miele of Mayville; seven grandchildren Christopher (Carrie) Champlin of Pensacola, FL, Kristina (Matthew) Clark of Jamestown, Danielle (Matt) LaBonte of Frankin, TN, Alisha (Caleb) Clark of Murfreesboro, TN, Brianna Miele of Indianapolis, IN, Mathew Miele of Albany, NY and Michelle Miele of Mayville; great grandchildren Rina and Jace Champlin, Wesley, Elliott and Oliver Clark and Anthony Gino LaBonte; a brother Mario (Rose) Cali of Jamestown, sister in law Carmelina Scala of Jamestown and niece Rosemary (Tim) Stam of Jamestown. She was preceded in death by her husband Mattia Miele, whom she married October 21, 1956, and who died December 2, 2011, and a brother Ross Cali. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Monday in St. James Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-5 pm Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. James Catholic Church.
