Obituary of Spiro L. Tsitso

Spiro L. Tsitso, 89, of 407 Palmer Street, died Friday September 9, 2022, in Absolut Care of Westfield. A lifelong Jamestown resident, he was born May 14, 1933, a son of the late Louis and Politimi Theologidis-Tsitso. He was a 1952 graduate of Jamestown High School whom he graduated with his best friend Robert V. Davis of West Haven, Utah. He was a veteran of the US Navy. (1952-1954) Aircraft Carrier USS Philippines Prior to his retirement in 1998, he was employed by Chautauqua Hardware in their factory. Prior to this he worked for MRC and Crescent Tool. In his retirement he spent his time outdoors enjoying the sunshine and planting an array of flowers and indoors spent time baking and cooking. His favorites include: Baklava, Kourabiedes (Greek Butter Cookies), Spanakopita, Rice pudding, Quiche and Jello-O. He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and the Eagles Lodge. Surviving are two children Louis Tsitso and Christine Tsitso both of Jamestown; five grandchildren Ashley Tsitso-Roman (Jose Roman), Kelsey Tsitso-Jern (John Jern), Sarah Tsitso-Kelley (Nick Kelley), Christopher and Matthew Tsitso; three great grandchildren Mila and Milo Roman and Colten Kelley; two brothers Nicholas Tsitso of Florida and Terry Louis of Florida and a sister Kathy Theofilactidis of Jamestown. He was preceded in death by his wife Delores Chonko-Tsitso, whom he married July 3, 1965, and who died June 16, 2009. The funeral will be held at 10 am Friday in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-6 pm Thursday in the church where a Trisagion Prayer Service will be led at 6 pm. Memorials may be made to St. Nicholas Church.
