Obituary of Gary Kevin Mlacker

G. Kevin Mlacker, 66, of Jamestown, NY, passed away at 2:26 pm Sunday, October 16, 2022, in the Star Hospice House, Lakewood, NY, following a long battle with cancer. He was born December 5, 1955, in Jamestown, NY, a son of Gary K. Mlacker and the late Brenda Bradigan Mlacker. Kevin was a 1974 graduate of Jamestown High School, where he excelled in academics, music, and athletics, particularly in baseball and playing the saxophone. He was a member of the Red Raider Marching Band and played sax in the first jazz band at the high school, as well as member of the Alpha Zeta Fraternity. He also attended Jamestown Community College for business while working at a Sunoco Service Station for a longtime friend. Kevin was incredibly hardworking and a very successful insurance agent during his professional career with Prudential Insurance, unfortunately cut short due to his illness. Kevin loved boating, slalom, and stunt skiing on Chautauqua Lake. He loved playing basketball, golfing, snowmobiling, and lived for racing and working on his red 1966 Chevelle. He also had a keen interest in reading and studying airplanes. He loved and would do anything for his friends and family. Everyone will remember him for his sense of humor and his smile will be forever missed. Surviving is his wife of 31 years, Constance "Connie" Hooker Mlacker whom he married December 21, 1990, his father Gary K. Mlacker of Lakewood, NY, two daughters, Sonja E. Benchley of Fredonia, NY, Natalie C. (Rick) Kress of Bemus Point, NY, three grandchildren, Kylie Kress, Gavin Kress of Bemus Point, NY, Reed Benchley of Fredonia, NY, and two brothers, Brian B. (Susan) Mlacker of Jamestown, Gregory A. Mlacker of Miami, FL. He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda who died September 28, 2015, and a brother, Rev. Jonathan P. Mlacker who died September 12, 2006. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 19, 2022, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Carmen Perry, hospice chaplain will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Prior visitation will not be observed.
